As soon as the days get shorter, we all want the same thing: to get home, close the door and retreat into our cocoon. A successful cosy night in doesn't require a budget or complicated planning. It comes down to a few details that, put together, turn an ordinary evening into a real moment of comfort.
Your cosy-night checklist
- Soft, warm lighting: several small sources rather than the ceiling light.
- Enveloping textures: throws, cushions, rugs.
- Comfortable clothes, and nice warm feet.
- A hot drink and a little snack.
- A relaxing activity, screens optional.
1. Start with the lighting
It's the element that changes the atmosphere the most. Switch off the ceiling light and add small light sources: a side lamp, fairy lights, a few candles. Choose warm-light bulbs, around 2,700 K: the room instantly feels more intimate.
2. Focus on textures
A chunky-knit throw, linen or velvet cushions, a thick rug underfoot: cosiness is very much about touch. No need to buy everything new; it's often enough to gather everything soft in one place.
3. Change, from head to toe
It's impossible to relax in tight jeans. Slip into loose trousers, a big jumper or pyjamas, and above all, look after your feet: they're the first to get cold. A lined slipper that wraps around the ankle, like our Merano slipper, is one of those little pleasures that changes everything. If you'd rather be able to step onto the balcony without changing, the Bormio lined clog is an equally cosy alternative.

4. Make a comforting drink
Homemade hot chocolate, a spiced herbal tea, chai, an alcohol-free mulled drink with orange and cinnamon: the hot drink is the central ritual. Add a small homemade snack, a few biscuits or some clementines, and you're there.
5. Choose your activity
Solo: a novel you started far too long ago, a hot bath, a notebook, a calm playlist.
As a couple: a film chosen in advance (to avoid forty minutes of scrolling), a jigsaw puzzle, a recipe to cook together.
With the family: a board game, a cushion fort in the living room, a read-aloud session.
6. Disconnect a little
The real luxury of a cosy night in is time. Put your phone on silent, away from the sofa, for at least an hour. You'll notice the difference in the quality of your evening and your sleep.
