Which shoes to wear for the temperature? Our thermometer from 20 °C to –5 °C

It's 9 °C this morning: clogs or booties? We ask ourselves every autumn day. Rather than guessing, here is our shoe thermometer, from 20 °C to –5 °C, so you know what to wear outdoors and at home.

The essentials

  • Above 15 °C: sandals and clogs, barefoot.
  • Between 8 and 15 °C: clogs with socks, outdoor slippers.
  • Below 8 °C: faux-fur lining and a thick sole.
  • At home, the floor temperature matters as much as the air temperature.

20 °C and above: let your feet breathe

It's the season for the Ravello sandal, with two adjustable straps and a cork-effect sole, and for clogs worn barefoot. Vegan velvet doesn't stick to bare skin.

Between 10 and 19 °C: clog time

The Sienna clog is at its best at these temperatures: barefoot up to about 15 °C, then with ribbed socks. It's the typical autumn outfit, detailed in clogs and socks: how to wear them.

Between 5 and 9 °C: add a lining

Mornings get crisp. The Bormio lined clog keeps the clog shape with a plush lining up to the collar and a grippy sole for the pavement. The Alba outdoor slipper, closed at the back, is perfect for quick trips in and out.

Below 5 °C: time for lined booties

The Cortina booties, sherpa-lined up to the ankle, with a thick sole that insulates from the cold ground. Add thin wool socks. In rain or snow, keep outings short and let them air-dry: our tips in vegan velvet and rain.

At home: look at the floor, not the thermostat

A living room heated to 19 °C can hide tiles at 14 °C. That contact is what chills your feet. Simple rule: tiles or stone, lined slippers from autumn on; parquet or carpet, comfy clogs. The Merano slipper covers the foot up to the ankle for the coldest floors.

A pair for every level

With the Winter Trio (Merano, Alba, Cortina) at €79.98 instead of €119.97, you cover the home, quick outings and the deep cold.
